Dr. Walterspiel is a pharmaceutical physician, board certified in Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases. Besides patient care and teaching, he works as a consultant for Investors, Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies. His areas of expertise are strategic planning, regulatory negotiation, study design, national / international site and investigator selection and opinion-leader input. His services include design and execution phases I-IV as well as assistance in IND and NDA preparation. Past clients include(d) Novartis, Bayer, Basilea, Bristol Myers Squibb and the CDC.
Dr. Walterspiel graduated from the TU Munich and completed his specialty and subspecialty training at UT Dallas, TX and Baylor College of Medicine Houston, TX. He held professorships at UT, Yale and Emory, and is licensed to practice medicine in the EU, CA, TX, GA and CT.
Juan started his pharmaceutical career as international clinical leader at Hoffmann La Roche/Genentech and director at Pfizer. He served as VP for start-ups in GA , MD and Becton Dickinson- GeneOhm. Dr. Walterspiel maintains his clinical skills as locum tenens in pediatrics and volunteer at a RotaCare clinic for indigent adults. He participates in ID case presentations and reviews grants at Stanford. He is member of the Clinical Affairs Committee of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and fluent in German and Spanish.
